Berggruen Arts & Culture, Palazzo Diedo, Fondamenta Diedo 2386

On April 20th, Berggruen Arts & Culture opens a permanent contemporary art space in Venice at Palazzo Diedo, unveiling the site-specific commissions by 11 internationally acclaimed artists – Urs Fischer, Piero Golia, Carsten Höller, Ibrahim Mahama, Mariko Mori, Sterling Ruby, Jim Shaw, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Aya Takano, Lee Ufan and Liu Wei – in the exhibition Janus. The works are often inspired by traditional crafts associated with Venice, such as frescos, Murano glass, precious fabrics and Venetian floor design. The exhibition takes its name from the Roman god of beginnings, often seen with two faces, one looking forward and the other backwards, symbolic of the exhibition’s aims to bring together the historical and contemporary.

    19.04.2024-24.11.2024
Wentrup Venezia, Calle de la Testa 6359

Capriccio marks the opening of Wentrup’s new venue in Venice. The exhibition explores the intersection of art, history, and imagination. Through a dialogue between contemporary artists and the Italian Transavanguardia movement, Capriccio delves into the concept of blending real and imaginary landscapes. Mary Ramsden’s abstract paintings, Marion Verboom’s hybrid sculptures, Anastasia Samoylova’s photographic collages, and Enzo Cucchi’s dreamlike compositions create a tapestry of whimsical narratives and fantastical worlds, inviting viewers to reflect on figuration, emotion, and the power of artistic expression.
