On January 21, the solo show of Michaël Borremans, “The Duck”, will open at Galerie Rudolfinum, Prague, curated by Petr Nedoma.

The work of Belgian painter Michaël Borremans (*1963, lives and works in Ghent) is characterized by a worryingly strong psychological moment. Although his pictorial themes are often associated with latent violence, they excel in their extraordinary beauty.

The specific illusory quality of his paintings reveals a great interest in the medium of film and photography, primarily as a source of inspiration for the compositional structure of his paintings.

The supernatural slowdown, the precise detail and the vibrant character of the paintings testify to an attempt to bring the transcendental qualities of spiritual questions closer. Over time, he also began to create videos that capture his moving canvases and open up a new dimension to his work.
