Andrea Castro is a visual artist that considers paintings as another language, another way to communicate with others. She is fascinated by the idea of reaching everybody around the world, whichever the language they may speak, and connecting with them through her character’s emotions or stories.
To do that Andrea creates internal conversations with the subjects of her paintings; they tell her what they want to transmit as she’s giving them shape. “Once the character’s figurative part begins to become more clear, they will take over my work and express what they want.
Then, this is the most terrifying but, at the same time, the funniest part of the whole process: translating their wishes into strokes.” Andrea’s oil work is amid figurative and abstract art, with a special touch of expressionism that characterize her personages’ soul.
