Melancholie mit Monstern is a Berlin based artistic project created by Nicola Di Fiordo and Riccardo Colombo, born in Milan in the early months of 2012.
The creation of collage is the basis on which rests the whole project: the works, inspired by a gothic, metaphysical and subtly ironic style are handmade on canvas supports with various materials or in digital form.
The inspiration draws heavily from a restless and visionary imagination populated by characters of literature and art as opposed to symbols (anti) religious, all immersed in a context of fierce nature.
Evanescent creatures live for few minutes destined to return to their human state of which one can keep a trace through these images.
“With our work we would like to create an imaginary world that is knowable. We would like people looking at pictures and saying: “Oh..that looks like a Melancholie (mit Monstern) collage!”. I think it’s possible when your artwork could reach a wider audience and apply to different areas. That’s why we have experienced the use of our works with photography, theatre and fashion.”
