Throughout Clare Pentlow’s studies both at college and Swansea Metropolitan university she has long since had a fascination with experimentation of different materials.

University paved the way for her to build her knowledge of materials gaining the technical skills in working with textiles. Paper became a focus of Clare’s whilst working on a project based around books leading her to investigate folding and cutting techniques.

Her enjoyment from working with paper comes from the transformation of turning a flat plain sheet into something beautiful by simply using cutting and folding.  Paper formed the basis of her experimentation culminating in working with Fiona Leahy, event designer, designing and making paper accessories for Vogue Fashion night out.

She also worked with Andy Macgregor paper sculptor creating large paper “monsters” to feature in a TDLM exhibition in Covent Garden. Her own paper sculptural works feature in the book Paperworks. She continues to expand her knowledge in an ever expanding and diverse world of Art and Design, always working on new techniques and technologies.
